Christmas Wishes for 2025: Four Things I Want Under My Tree as a Case Manager

annaedwards36

1. Wider Accessibility Options on Public Transport

One of my greatest wishes is for improved accessibility on public transport. Many individuals with disabilities still face significant barriers when navigating public transport systems.

  • Enhanced Infrastructure: I hope for investment in infrastructure that accommodates diverse needs, such as low-floor buses and step-free train stations.

  • Training for Staff: It is also essential for transport staff to receive comprehensive training on assisting passengers with different accessibility requirements.

Making public transport more accessible would significantly enhance independence and quality of life for many individuals.

2. Funded NHS and Improved Waiting Times

Another key wish is for increased funding for the NHS, leading to reduced waiting times for vital services.

  • Access to Care: Every patient deserves timely access to the care they need, especially following an injury or diagnosis.

  • Resource Allocation: I envision a healthcare system where resources are allocated efficiently, ensuring that all patients receive prompt treatment and support.

By enhancing funding and resource distribution, we can improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden on families navigating the healthcare system.

3. A Wider Housing Market for Adapted Accommodation

The housing market must become more inclusive and accommodating for individuals who require adapted living spaces.

  • Increased Availability: I hope to see more housing options that meet the needs of individuals with disabilities, including wheelchair-accessible homes and properties equipped for various health conditions.

  • Support for Adaptations: Additionally, I would love to see more support for families seeking to adapt their current homes, ensuring that everyone has a safe and suitable living environment.

By addressing the housing market's limitations, we can provide individuals with the stability they need for recovery and independence.

4. More Support for Families and Carers in the NHS

Finally, I wish for increased support for families and carers of those recovering from injuries.

  • Educational Resources: Families often feel overwhelmed and unprepared for their caregiving roles. I would like to see educational resources and training offered through the NHS to equip families with the knowledge they need.

  • Emotional Support: Furthermore, access to mental health support services for carers can greatly alleviate stress and improve overall well-being.

By prioritising the support of families and carers, we can create a more compassionate healthcare system that acknowledges the vital role they play in recovery.

As we look ahead to 2025, I hold on to hope for these wishes to become a reality. As a Case Manager, I am dedicated to advocating for those I support and working towards a more inclusive and supportive environment. May this Christmas season inspire us all to dream big and strive for positive change in the coming year.
