Bringing Joy into Recovery

As an independent case manager, I operate within the realm of personal injury, serving solicitors, insurers, private industry, and paying clients.

My role involves providing specialist service delivery tailored to clients who have experienced catastrophic, life-changing, and serious injuries. I offer support at every stage of their rehabilitation journey, ensuring comprehensive assistance throughout.

What is Case Management?

I highly recommend turning to the useful guides provided by BABICM and CMSUK which have provided excellent outlines for the role and impact of case management for clients, and for legal professionals.Case management is the pivotal role of advocating for you or your clients' needs throughout their rehabilitation journey. It involves assessing individual requirements, planning tailored care, and collaborating closely with interprofessionals.

I ensure that plans are reflective of the individual and human-centered, such as  actively advocating at medical appointments, navigating financial support, statutory services, and liaising with schools and employers. My aim is to provide comprehensive support that empowers individuals towards recovery and a fulfilling life.

Childhood Psychology

With a career spanning many years in the NHS, my approach to case management is deeply rooted in creativity, client focus, and an unwavering belief that no problem is too small.

I thrive on working at the outset of legal instructions, allowing me to maximise and advocate for personalised case management tailored to each individual's needs.

Central to my philosophy is the recognition that family and carers play a pivotal role in a client's recovery journey. Therefore, I ensure a holistic approach in my assessments, valuing their input and involvement every step of the way.

Creativity and joy are not just values I uphold, but driving forces that shape my assessments, problem-solving strategies, and recommendations. I firmly believe that by infusing creativity into every aspect of my work, I can uncover innovative solutions and approaches that truly make a difference in my clients' lives.

My Approach

Immediate Needs Assessments

As an advocate for integrity and person-centred care, I conduct Immediate Needs Assessments (INAs) with a transparent and holistic approach. Grounded in the values of integrity and transparency, my assessments provide a comprehensive overview of the client's needs to maximise their rehabilitation and recovery journey. I adhere to the Rehabilitation Code, engaging regularly in clinical supervision and collaboration within my professional network.

During an INA, I prioritise understanding the physical and psychological impacts of the incident, establishing individual goals, and recommending suitable treatment options. Before inclusion in the report, goals and treatment options are discussed and agreed upon with the client. I conduct home visits to ensure a personalised approach, capturing essential care requirements, equipment needs, home adaptations, and associated costs in the report.

Goal Setting and Rehabilitation

Following an immediate needs assessment, I work closely with the client to establish mutual goals and develop a tailored plan of action. This plan may entail engaging a multidisciplinary team to administer treatment, crafting a bespoke support package, or enhancing the client's involvement within the community.

Throughout the rehabilitation process, I conduct regular reviews of the programme, assessing its efficacy, estimating associated costs, and providing comprehensive progress reports to the client, their family, involved professionals, and legal representatives.
